"...There Is Tyranny."

Today, I am nearly silenced with complete and total fear. Recently, a "training" excercise deployed U.S. troops into Chicago amongst civilians. The long empowered U.S. PATRIOT Act gives federal agents almost unlimited power to invade our privacy for whatever reason, without question or probable cause. The National Defense Authorization Act allows indefinite detention, without due process of law, of any suspected terrorist, "associated forces," or anyone who commits a "belligerent" act. This broad wording means that even I am at risk, as this document could be considered belligerent. Congress authorized the "Drone bill" (HR 658), allowing federal drones to be flown over U.S. soil and even police in Texas have purchased (and crashed..) their own drone. The "Anti-Trespass Bill" (HR 347) was passed as well, which heavily restricts the right to protest. Now "SOPA" and "PIPA" have been shelved, but CISPA has been passed by the House. This bill would award the same powers to not only the government, but the private sector. I fear that it will also pass in the coming days.

These relatively recent events drain me of my hope for a peaceful revolution. Not all my hope is lost, but it is severely weakened. My body and spirit grow weak as the fear courses throughtout my veins. Most of the populus fail to realize the Fascist path we're taking, and even worse is the fact that even fewer care.

The curtain is open, the show is on, but few in the audience notice the brick wall of reality behind the film screen. Even as others openly put themselves at risk by publicly warning them, the words go unheard, and soon the theater staff will remove those who speak out. The audience will continue to enjoy the film to the ending credits, but at the ending the screen will fall. The falling of the screen will reveal the brick wall at the back of the building. The building, in which the doors are locked, and no escape exists. A window of thick glass will allow those trapped to see what they once had, but it will offer no escape.

A wise man once said, "When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When people fear the government, there is tyranny."

Today, I am nearly silenced with complete and total fear.
